The Euro-IX project proposal initiative

Euro-IX has sets aside a certain amount of its budget every year to develop ideas and strategies that will attempt to improve the operations of IXPs in Europe. The Euro-IX members decided to start an initiative to receive input from Euro-IX members and the general community in relation to 'project' proposals.

These projects are to be IXP related proposals that will ultimately be intended to help improve certain facets of the entire IXP community. Input is welcome from all, however certain guidelines should be met when submitting a proposal (see project submission guidelines below).

These project proposals will be collated by Euro-IX and presented to the General meeting where members will vote on which project proposals Euro-IX should take on.

Once a project has been approved by the Euro-IX members it will require the collaboration from at least two member IXPs to get the full go ahead.

Community support

As well as yourself, you should name other people or organizations that also support this specific project proposal. To your knowledge, has the project you are suggesting been already implemented somewhere else? If so, would they be willing for us to take the project over or would they consider working as partners on this project?

Benefits to the community

Describe how the proposal will benefit the IXP community as a whole.

Estimate of costs and timescale of the project.

Ideas of the costs you envisage being involved; What part of these costs will be human resources and will any hardware/software purchases be involved? Estimate how long you feel a project of this nature might take to complete.

Project details

Supply a concise description of your project proposal, be as specific as possible about what you ultimately require from this project. Detail exactly what the present problems are and how you envisage the project resolving these problems. Any other information that you feel is relevant to the proposal please include.
